The USS Onondaga was a Union twin turreted Ironclad She was built at the Continental Iron works in 1864 . During the civil war she spent her entire carrear in the James river. Early in January 1865she was the only Union Ironclad totake part in the Battle of Trent’s Reach. However her captain was later court marshalled because he hadnt advanced on the confederate iron clads coming down river.
This model of the USS Onondaga is a 1/600 scale Union twin turreted Ironclad. She had a 15” smoothbore and an 8” Parrott rifle in each turret. She was 228’ long x 51’ in beam, displaced about 2251 tons, had a maximum speed of about 7 kts and about 150 officers and men as crew.
