The Cingolette L40 was an open topped assault/AT gun and entered service in 1941, and was often used within reconnaissance units. With the surrender of Italy in 1943 the remaining vehicles were seized by the Germans and saw valuable service on the Eastern Front, designated StuG L6 47/32 630(i) A total of 420 were built, 120 after the Germans took over.
