The Sdkfz251 armoured personnel carrier was known as the ‘Hanomag’ after the main manufacturer of the vehicle. It was the most widely used APC within the German army throughout World War 2. Over 15000 were produced, many being variants of the ‘base’ model. The ‘Drilling’ was designed as an anti aircraft vehicle armed with ex Luftwaffe triple MG151 15mm cannons. It really found its forte in the ground role and was a very effective infantry support vehicle. Over 200 were built.
