The Panzer IV was developed for the German tank force in the 1930s, and became the most numerous tank in the German army, with a total of nearly 9000 produced in total.
Over 200 Panzer IVEs were produced and provided the mainstay of the heavy tanks in the German army for the opening stages of the invasion of Russia in 1941.
