The MkII was used in the war from July 1943, first seeing action in Italy. It went on to be used for reconnaissance by British and Empire forces both in Europe and the Far East up to1945 like its earlier comrade, the MkII, and was sold widely to other nations after the war.
It was armed with the 37mm gun, the previous 15mm machinegun outpaced by combat developments and co-ax Besa MG. Around 2000 0f the MkIV were built and it was considered to be a very effective vehicle in its role.
