These rules are designed to fast play large fleet actions between 1860 with the introduction of HMS Warrior and France's Gloire up to 1880. The idea being that you can play a large fleet action in a couple of hours with so much of the calculations usual in wargames rules built into the mechanics of the game. We have found them to be a great balance between accuracy and playability
There was no major feet actions between these dates other than the Battle of Lissa which was fought between the Austrians and the Italians. This battle gave rise to the idea of ramming against gunfire and distorted naval thinking for much of this period. Ramming is covered by these rules.
