The Abrams tank brings the US main battle tank heritage up to the 2020s. In service with the US Army from 1980 and with the 120mm main gun and low profile, as well as excellent armour, over 5000 M1A1s were produced up to 1992. Used in both the Gulf War and Iraq War since it was used in Afghanistan and currently in the Ukraine war.
