Designed in 1930 as a light armoured vehicle to tow the 25mm AT gun and as a supply vehicle. This model is the improve version introduced in 1935. The Chenillette was mainly used by infantry regiments, nine to each, but also used by armoured divisions with 12 per regiment. Indeed, mechanised infantry regiments fielded as many as 18, an with a supply capacity (using the towed bin) of 1 tonne they were highly regarded. Over 5000 were produced before the Fall of France.
Of note is that the 3000 Chenillettes captured were adopted by the Germans and also Italy, and while most continued in their role of supply vehicles, modifications for AT gun carriers (rather than panzerjagers) continued throughout the war.
