The Nashorn (Rhinoceros) was a Panzerjager, and mas armed with the fearsome 88mm L71 AT gun, it was intended as a stopgap tank killer for the Eastern front primarily.
Based on a Panzer IV Chassis, and with light armour, high profile and fixed AT gun, it was relatively cheap to produce and in fact was still in production by the end of WW2. Nearly 500 were produced.
Making its first appearance in combat at Kursk in 1943 it proved highly effective over long ranges. When some were deployed to Italy, and more limited visibility it's effect was somewhat limited.
