Produced between December 1944 and March 1945, and the final variant of the German heavy Reconnaissance armoured cars, this vehicle combined speed and a very effective 75mm PaK 40 L46 AT gun this provided the Heavy reconnaissance units of the late war German Panzer Divisions with an answer to better armed Allied tanks and armoured vehicles. Though open topped, it was considered by its crews to be a good addition to the Panzer Recon Battalion. Around 100 were produced.
