The Sahariana was one of the few enemy vehicles that the LRDG tried to avoid. It was considered the best designed Italian fighting vehicle of WW2 based on its performance.
This Italian reconnaissance car was perfect for desert warfare... large but low, 4 wheel drive and (using the 20 litre fuel cans strapped to its sides), a range of 1500 kilometres or more. There were several weapons loadouts (a 20mm auto cannon version also produced by us) for this vehicle, which was based on the AB41 armoured car. (though the AS42 was unarmoured)
