With the nickname of 'Wurger (Shrike) this incedibly effective German fighter and ground attack single seater aircraft was designed in the 1930s and entered active service in 1941. The wing design leant itself to a high combat load, (up to 500kg of bombs) and armed with 2 fuselage mounted and two wing root mounted MMGs, as well as two 20mm autocannon this plane packed a punch, both in air to air combat and ground attack. Nearly 14000 of the 'A' series were produced, of which around 1000 were A3s. This plane was used wherever the German Army was to be found up to the end of the war.
