The Ford F30 was ideal for the LRDG as it was a 4 wheel drive vehicle, but in operations it was found that the weight of the Bofors and the water and supplies required for deep desert raids put great strain on the engine, and many breakdowns, but the firepower of the truck certainly made up for problems through to the second half of 1942 when the F30 was phased out and the Chevy 30cwt took its place.
