Built on the same chassis as the Striker, the Spartan was an armoured personnel carrier (APC) which could carry 3 crew and 4 infantrymen. It entered service in the British Army in 1978 and was withdrawn in 2009. Nearly 1000 were produced. Some were used by Belgium, and some are currently being used by Ukraine, while small numbers are in service both in Africa and the Middle East.
