Built on the redundant Porsche Tiger chassis, around 100 were poduced, but the effect by far outweighed the limited numbers deployed in the German Army.

Armed with an 88mm L71 for 1943, and heavily armoured when it was introduced to the battlefield at Kursk, it by far was the best long range tank killer anywhere.

Its shortcomings (limited vision for the driver and lack of close protection MG) were rectified in time, and were outweighed by its kill ratio, possibly 10:1.

Fielded both in Russia and Italy it last saw action in the Battle for Berlin in 1945.
