This model of the CSS Alabama is a 1/600 scale Confederate commerce raider. She had 6 × 32 lb (15 kg) cannons, 1 × 110 lb (50 kg) cannon, 1 × 68 lb (31 kg) cannon. She was 220’ long x 31’2” in beam, displaced about 1050 tons, had a maximum speed of about 13 kts and about 145 officers and men as crew.
The CSS Alabama was a Confederate commerce raider. She was built in England in 1862 . In January 1863, Alabama sank the Union side-wheeler USS Hatteras just off the Texas coast, near Galveston. She went on to capture or burn 65 Union merchant ships. She was sunk by USS Kearsarge off the coast of France on 19 June1864.
