This model of the USS Kearsarge is a 1/600 scale Union wooden ship used to hunt down Confederate commerce raiders. She had 2 × 11 in (280 mm) smoothbore Dahlgren guns, 4 × 32-pounder guns, 1 × 30-pounder Parrott rifle. She was 201’ long x 33’ in beam, displaced about 1550 tons, had a maximum speed of about 11 kts.
The USS Kearsarge was a Union wooden ship. She was built at Portsmouth Navy Yard in Kittery, Maine, under the 1861 American Civil War emergency ship building program. She was famous for sinking the CSS Alabama off the coast of France on 19 June1864.
