The Bergpanzer III was a German repair tank based on a Panzer III chassis, with a wooden superstructure and crane. Its defence was provided by 2 MG34 machine guns, mostly for air defence. In armoured divisions from around 1943 between two or three would be providing support for each tank battalion. Over 150 were produced, and did sterling service.
