Covered in the two volumes are 39 Rifle Company, battalion, and regimental combat team after action reports from the 1st Infantry Division.  Compiled at the end of World War Two by the division G-3 section, these reports describe the “best attack'” made by that unit in northern Europe, July 1944 through April 1945.  Due to the overall size, the reports were divided into two volumes.  Volume One – reports 1-29.  Each report has at least one, to as many as four, maps and overlays.

Here is to be found extremely useful information on ‘small unit actions’ that have never been published or made available to the public before.
